Chile Volcanoes

Chile boasts one of the world’s most impressive concentrations of volcanoes, with over 2,000 situated along the expansive length of the country. This extraordinary density is a direct consequence of the subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath the South American Plate, forming the geologically active Andes mountain range. Chilean volcanoes are renowned for their diversity, ranging from towering stratovolcanoes to expansive calderas, and occasionally exhibit spectacular eruptive activity.
