White mud volcano

This mud volcano, while not the largest (7 meters wide and 2 meters high), is undoubtedly the most visually stunning in the country (in my opinion!). You don’t usually see something this white and it really stands out from the others. Within its crater, bubbling mud boils.

The white color is primarily due to the high concentration of dissolved minerals, which precipitate out of the mud as it dries. These minerals, often include kaolinite clay and are naturally white.
