Silica stream mud pool

The aerial view features a dark mud pool juxtaposed with a strikingly white stream. Geothermal waters, rich in dissolved silica and sulphur, flow through the stream. As this water cools and evaporates, silica precipitates out, forming a white crust or powder. This continuous flow of mineral-laden water sustains the intense whiteness, contrasting sharply with the mud pool, which is attributed to clay minerals.
