- Oxidised thermal pool
This is wonderful, vibrant geothermal hot spring characterised by a pool of clear, heated water surrounded by a striking orange and white mineral deposit landscape. The orange hues are the presence of iron oxides, while the white areas are silica or other evaporites, both products of the hot, mineral-rich water interacting with the environment. The rough, irregular texture of the terrain indicates ongoing geothermal activity, where heated water rises through fractures, depositing minerals and altering the surrounding rock. Photosynthetic microorganisms that can withstand high temperatures are also present.
