Mud geyser vent

This is a vent of an active mud geyser, a geological feature characterised by the periodic eruption of mud and gases. It has a funnel-shaped opening, surrounded by a substantial mound constructed from accumulated mud deposits. The pale, uniform color and layered texture of the mound suggest a composition rich in fine-grained sediments and minerals, likely silica or clays, which solidify upon drying. The geyser erupts approximately ever 30 minutes, contingent on low water levels. The low water level condition likely reduces hydrostatic pressure, allowing accumulated gases and pressurised mud to overcome the remaining resistance and erupt. This process builds the surrounding mound through successive deposits, creating a unique landform.
