Grafton Volcano

Grafton Volcano has an interesting history. It was first mapped by Hochstetter in 1964, however was subsequently determined that it was part of the Auckland Domain volcano. Then in 2011, it was granted it's own volcano status again after examining trace lava flows. Grafton Volcano erupted before the Auckland Domain volcano did. The original crater was about 1km wide. Today, Outhwaite Park sits on the original crater.
