I’ve probably explored a thousand sea caves or more, but this one was a total outlier. Usually you know exactly what to expect. They’re mostly just a dull brown color, rocky, and covered in those sharp, crusty barnacles. After a while, they all start to look similar.

This one was different. It was completely black. Everything. The walls, the ceiling, the floor, it was almost like pure obsidian. The ceiling was covered in black stalactites with alien-like shapes. They didn’t look like the typical cones you find in most caves. They were strange, jagged, and completely dark, hanging there like something from another world.

Why is it black? I’m not entirely sure, but it could be due to a heavy coating of Manganese oxide?
