  7. The Impossibly Neon Blue...

Hidden away in the North Island is a secret river that feels almost completely off-limits, guarded by sheer vertical cliffs that run nearly its entire length. It’s a mission just to find a way down, but if you manage to scramble to the bottom, the payoff is unreal.

The water is this vibrant, almost neon blue. Some of the clearest I’ve ever seen. Scattered along the river are these incredible deep swimming holes, where the bright white sandy bottoms reflect the light to give the water its electric colour. The surrounding cliffs are covered in thick, stunning green moss, which only adds to the lost world vibe of the place.

Just a warning though….as beautiful as it looks, that water is absolutely freezing.
