- Stacked Stone Pancakes
These unique geological features were formed when alternating layers of hard limestone (from compressed marine creature fragments) and softer mudstone were deposited on the seabed, later being uplifted by seismic activity. The characteristic stacked “pancake” appearance is the result of differential erosion, where rain, wind, and the sea have worn away the softer mudstone layers more rapidly than the harder limestone, creating the distinct horizontal layers.
