Hot Green Pool

New Zealand boasts striking geothermal wonders, including this vibrant green hot spring with its edges adorned in orange precipitate and sinter. The spring’s alluring depth belies its scorching temperature, which we measured at approximately 65 degrees Celsius—far too hot for swimming. The outflow has created a stunning silica sinter terrace.

It’s surprisingly easy to get to, however the environment is extremely fragile so great care is needed to protect this wonderful feature.
