This striking geological feature is likely the result of a rockfall event where it cascaded down from the surrounding cliffs. It has come to rest on the underlying wave-cut platform, situated within a small gut. The block displays the characteristic layered or “pancake” appearance typical of limestone formations, showing differential weathering across its strata, which retain their original tilted orientation from the cliff face. Since landing on the platform, ongoing wave action at high tide has significantly undercut the base of the block.
